Furman Tour of Homes 2026

1,034 Guests • 19 States • One Incredible Weekend

What an extraordinary weekend in Furman. The 2026 Tour of Homes welcomed more than 1,000 visitors from across 19 states and even Norway, all drawn to experience the history, beauty, and hospitality that make Wilcox County so special.

From the Friday gatherings at Wakefield to Saturday’s tour along County Road 59, guests enjoyed a weekend filled with historic homes, meaningful connections, and a true sense of place. The energy and enthusiasm throughout the weekend were a reminder of just how much this tour means—not only to our visitors, but to our entire community.

This year’s tour continues to make a lasting impact, supporting historic preservation while also bringing new visitors and economic activity to Wilcox County. It is something we can all be proud of.

We are especially grateful to our homeowners, who open their doors and work tirelessly to prepare each home. Thank you to our sponsors, volunteers, and community partners whose generosity and dedication make this event possible. And to our guests—thank you for traveling from near and far to be part of it. We are so glad you came.

This year’s Tour featured nine homes, two churches, and more! The event showcased the charm and heritage of Alabama’s Black Belt. Highlights included Wakefield Plantation (c. 1840s), Magnolia Glen (c. 1833), Laura Ann (c. 1860), Rockwood (c. 1855), Deerfield (c. 1895), Fox Hill (c. 1840s), the Moore-Burson-Rushing Home (c. 1885), the Hunt House (c. 1920), and the West Home (c. 1840, relocated from Dallas County). Also featured were Bethsaida Baptist Church (c. 1858), Furman Methodist Church (c. 1882), the Furman General Store (c. 1880), Furman Post Office (c. 1900), Furman School (c. 1929), and the Alabama Baptist Building (c. 1830s, relocated from Marion). Furman’s tree-lined lanes and gracious architecture offered the perfect setting for a springtime stroll through Alabama’s rich past.

Friday’s events at Wakefield were a true highlight, featuring Charlie Hurt as our guest speaker. An accomplished journalist, Opinion Editor of The Washington Times, and co-host of Fox & Friends Weekend, Charlie brought a thoughtful and engaging perspective that resonated with guests throughout the evening. His remarks were both inspiring and heartfelt, and the audience’s response was overwhelmingly positive. What made his visit especially meaningful was his genuine interest in our community—taking the time to tour homes, visit with homeowners, and learn more about our region’s history. It was a memorable evening that set the tone for the entire weekend.

All proceeds from the WHS Tour of Homes goes to preserve historic buildings in Furman and throughout Wilcox County.
