The Wilcox Historical Society is honored to welcome Jo Bonner, President of the University of South Alabama, as our November speaker. His engaging talk, “There Must Be Something in the Water,” promises insight, humor, and inspiration drawn from his years of leadership and his roots right here in Camden, Alabama.
President Bonner has been a fixture in Alabama civic and political life for more than two decades. Before joining USA as president, he served as Chief of Staff to Governor Kay Ivey and previously represented Alabama’s First District in the U.S. Congress, where he earned a reputation as a respected and influential voice of reason.
Under his leadership, the University of South Alabama—“The Flagship of the Gulf Coast” has seen record enrollment growth, unprecedented fundraising success, and an expanding health system. His upbeat message reflects a lifelong commitment to progress, education, and service to our state.
